Week 2: Cultivating a Go, Gospel, Grow, Gather Vision for Life

Read James 2:14-18 Together

What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled," without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, "You have faith and I have works." Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
James 2:14-18

{ Question 1 }

What is the relationship between faith and works in James 2:14-18?

{ Question 2 }

How does that relationship inform the differences between “values” and “practices?” (i.e., the things we say we believe and how we actually live?)

Read Matthew 28:18-20 Together

"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Matthew 28:18-20

{ Question 3 }

How might your life look different if you you really undertook the practices Jesus imbeds in His Great Commission; namely, Going (“Go therefore…”), Gospel’ing (“make disciples of all nations”), Growing (“Baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Spirit”), and Gathering (“teaching them to observe all that I have commanded”)

Watch The Following Videos Together

{ Question 4 }

Discuss together: What “aha moments” get provoked in you from watching this video?

DNA Plan

Discuss together how you can make specific, measurable plans for living into each of these practices this week:

{ Go }

Knowing that it’s about participation not perfection, what does it look like for you to live sent in your neighborhood, place of work, or other sphere of influence this week?

( Gospel }

How can you begin developing “Gospel-fluency” by speaking and applying the truths and promises of Jesus into the everyday stuff of someone’s life this week?

{ Grow }

What does it look like for you to help someone become aware of/awaken to their identity in Christ this week?

{ Gather }

How can you serve the Hub expression of God’s family this week, particularly during Sunday Gathering?
